Bergamots are exclusively grown in southern Italy, specifically in Calabria, 140 km south of the Ionic sea coast, over approximately 1,400 hectares of dedicated land and it is considered to be of the highest quality in the international trading market. The fruit is green, but can turn colour to a yellowish/orange skin when fully ripened.

 

Bergamot is a popular scent in the perfumery industry, and its powerful fragrance makes it an important constituent in many perfumes in which it acts as the top note.

Usage & Benefit : Bergamot has antimicrobial properties, that can help to prevent the spread of foreign pathogens and fight parasitic infection diseases and respiratory conditions (Cold, Flu & Cough). Used medicinally, it works as a febrifuge, which can also help the body to recover from illness by fighting infections that cause fever.

It also has the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties when used cosmetically or topically in general, Bergamot Oil can help to heal wound, scars/marks on skin, it also can disinfect the skin by preventing the growth of harmful bacteria. When added to bath water or soaps, it relieves cracks on the skin and heels while also protecting skin against infections.


Aromatherapists often use bergamot aromatherapy oil in massage therapy for its analgesic and antispasmodic properties when trying to help ease muscular pain, muscle cramps, menses cramp and headache, by adding a few drops of bergamot to a carrier oil such as jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, etc, to create an uplifting yet deeply relaxing massage oil.

It is commonly used in aromatherapy diffusers due to its popular soothing scent which has antidepressant and stimulating qualities that helps to promote cheerfulness & improve blood circulation, relieves feelings of anxiety, fatigue, sad mood, low sex drive, lack of appetite, feelings of helplessness and disinterest in common activities, when inhaled. It can be used on its own, or together with other oils as an aromatic blend, by mixing a few drops of bergamot with other essential oils such as Lavender, Clary Sage or Frankincense.

 

Blends well with : Lavender, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Orange, Lemon, Patchouli, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Petitgrain, Tea Tree, Ginger, Lemongrass and Rosemary essential oils

**Keep in mind, some Bergamot Essential Oil is known to be phototoxic. However our Bergamot is Bergapten-free, making it safe for use in the sun.

 

Note : 

Do not use Bergamot essential oil on infant under 6 months old.

 

For children under 2 years old:

Water diffuser (1 to 2 drops per 100ml)

Nebuliser diffuser (15 sec for 1/2/3 hour)

 

For topical use (Dilute pure essential oils with a carrier oil such as Grapeseed oil/jojoba oil/fractionated coconut oil,etc) it is important to follow these dilution guidelines for : 

 

  • 6 - 24 months : 0.25% - 0.5%
  • 2 - 6 years old : 1% - 2%
  • 6 - 15 years old : 1.5% - 2%
  • Over 15 years : 2% - 3%
